Early this morning, Fredericksburg police responded to gunfire in the 400 block of William Street around 1:00 a.m. When officers arrived, they found 23-year-old Tyler Lee Jones of Fredericksburg suffering from gunshot wounds nearby on Charles Street. Officers rendered aid until rescue crews arrived, but Jones was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Authorities have notified Jones’s family and are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The Fredericksburg Police Department extended their thanks to the Stafford and Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Offices for their assistance in the investigation.
