A dispute over a canteen item escalated into violence Wednesday night at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. Deputies responded to reports of a physical altercation between two inmates.
Following an investigation by Deputy D.A. Robertson, the predominant aggressor was identified and charged with two counts of assault and battery. The individual remains in custody at the jail. No details were released about the condition of the second inmate involved.
