Deputy N. D. Fonseca received a fraud complaint from a resident who was contacted by a scammer impersonating a Stafford Sheriff’s Office official. The caller falsely claimed the victim had a federal warrant for missing court and requested payment to avoid jail. The Sheriff’s Office reminds residents that they will never request money over the phone to avoid arrest.
