Fredericksburg police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man now wanted for the rape of a child, following a report filed earlier this month involving an incident that happened eight years ago.
On December 4, a woman came forward to report that she was sexually assaulted when she was 12 years old. The case was immediately assigned to Detective A. Tittle, who confirmed details and evidence that backed up the woman’s account.
The suspect, 38-year-old David Jackson of Fredericksburg, is now wanted on a felony charge of raping a child under the age of 13. Police say Jackson’s current whereabouts are unknown.
Jackson is described as a Black man, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing approximately 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket and a red beanie. Investigators believe he may still be in the area and frequenting the FXBGO bus line, downtown Fredericksburg, and the Spotsylvania Towne Centre.
Police are urging the public not to approach Jackson if spotted. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Tittle directly at 540-654-5778. Tips can also be sent anonymously by texting “FPDtip” followed by the information to 847-411, or through the free FPD Tip app available on both iPhone and Android.
The Fredericksburg Police Department emphasized its commitment to victim support and community safety, urging anyone affected by sexual assault to seek help through the Rappahannock Council Against Sexual Assault. RCASA offers 24/7 support via its hotline at 540-371-1666 or at rcasa.org.
This is an ongoing investigation.
