A suspected shoplifter was arrested after allegedly stealing merchandise from the Target store on South Gateway Drive. Loss prevention staff observed a male suspect take items from the store and walk toward a nearby business.
Deputies located the individual, identified as Jamal Johnson, 34, of Stafford. Johnson admitted to taking a couple of drinks, but a search of his backpack revealed more stolen items. He was charged with petit larceny, shoplifting, and public intoxication, and was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a secured bond.
