Stafford deputies responded to Publix following two previously reported shoplifting incidents that occurred on February 4 and February 5. Store representatives advised that a man concealed merchandise and exited the store without paying on both occasions.
The suspect had already been arrested earlier in the day for a separate larceny. He was identified as 30-year-old John Townsell, IV, of Stafford. Authorities obtained two additional warrants for shoplifting and served them while he was being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail. Townsell remains held on a continuation of no bond.
