Deputies are investigating a wallet theft that resulted in fraudulent bank activity at a Stafford County gym.
Deputy Ramos responded to Planet Fitness after a victim reported their wallet had been left inside an unsecured locker. Shortly afterward, the victim received a fraud notification from their bank indicating an unauthorized withdrawal had been attempted and the account had been frozen.
The victim discovered that two bank cards were missing and had already been used for fraudulent activity. A second gym patron also reported items missing from their wallet along with unauthorized charges.
Both victims contacted their banks, and the first victim was advised they would likely receive their funds back. Planet Fitness staff were unable to immediately provide surveillance footage related to the incident.
At this time, no suspects have been identified.
