A Stafford man was arrested late Thursday night after deputies responded to reports of an intoxicated driver on Webb Court.
Deputy Ramos arrived at the scene and observed the driver stumbling as he exited his vehicle. The driver showed multiple signs of impairment including a strong odor of alcohol, glossy eyes, slurred speech, and difficulty maintaining balance.
The driver refused to perform field sobriety tests and declined to provide both breath and blood samples. He was subsequently taken into custody.
The suspect was identified as Carlos Puente, 31, of Stafford.
Puente was charged with driving under the influence, driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction, and refusal to submit to testing. He was transported to the Rappahannock Regional Jail where he is being held without bond.
