Vehicle Hit by Gunfire in Fredericksburg; No Injuries Reported

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Fredericksburg police are investigating after shots were fired Wednesday night in the 300 block of Tyler Street.

According to police, the call came in at about 7:42 p.m. on March 18, 2026. When officers got to the scene, they found a vehicle with damage consistent with gunfire.

Investigators later determined the vehicle had been occupied when the shooting happened, but no one was hurt.

Police also recovered several cartridge casings in the area.

The shooting happened in a residential part of Fredericksburg, and investigators are still working to figure out exactly what led up to it.

Now, police are asking neighbors and anyone who was nearby that evening to help. Detectives want to hear from anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area or has security camera footage from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on March 18.
