A suspect was arrested after attempting to bypass payment at a Walmart self-checkout using a “skip-scanning” method.
Loss prevention staff detained the individual after observing them cover barcodes and pass items over the scanner without registering them. Surveillance footage confirmed the activity.
Orfil Esquivez Varela, 27, of Stafford, was charged with petit larceny and released with a court date.
