Deputies responded to a fraud report after residents fell victim to an Apple-related scam. The victims received an alert about a supposed fraudulent charge and were convinced to provide bank information and grant remote access to their iPad.
The suspect escalated the situation by claiming financial danger and instructing the victims to purchase gift cards to “verify” their identity. The scam continued until the victims became suspicious when more gift cards were requested.
Authorities intervened while the suspect was still on the phone and advised the victims to cut contact immediately, notify their bank, cancel cards, and secure their accounts.
