Sergeant McCall conducted a traffic stop on Kings Highway after observing a vehicle failing to maintain its lane.
Deputies reported the driver showed signs of intoxication, including an unsteady balance and a strong odor of alcohol. Several open alcoholic beverages were allegedly visible inside the vehicle.
The driver refused field sobriety testing and later declined to provide a breath sample at the Sheriff’s Office.
James Cashwell, 54, of King George, was charged with driving under the influence, driving after forfeiture of license, and refusal to test.
