Deputy Suter stopped a vehicle at the Commuter Lot after observing it failing to maintain its lane.
Authorities said the driver showed signs of intoxication, including slurred speech, glassy eyes, and the odor of alcohol. The driver also admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the day.
After field sobriety testing and further breath testing at the Sheriff’s Office, the driver’s blood alcohol content was reportedly above the legal limit.
Nia Berry, 23, of Fredericksburg, was charged with driving under the influence and a traffic lane violation. Berry was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
