Deputy Copeland conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle driving erratically near Courage Lane and Richmond Highway. During the stop, the driver and passengers showed signs of impairment, including glassy eyes and the odor of alcohol. Investigators later determined the driver was wanted out of Fairfax County.
At the Sheriff’s Office, field sobriety tests and a breath test indicated the driver’s blood alcohol content was above the legal limit. Deputies also discovered empty alcoholic beverage containers and two firearms inside the vehicle.
Samuel Vasquez-Hernandez, 22, of Woodbridge, was charged with driving under the influence, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, driving without a license, aggressive driving, and served on an outstanding warrant. Passengers Angel Rios-Sorto, 20, and Mario Sandoval, 22, both of Woodbridge, were also charged in connection with alcohol-related offenses.
