A Fredericksburg woman was arrested after Stafford County deputies found her asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle on Warrenton Road.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of an unconscious driver and found the woman displaying signs of impairment, including slurred speech, lethargic behavior, and glassy eyes.
Investigators determined the driver’s license had previously been revoked due to a prior DUI conviction. The driver completed field sobriety tests but initially refused to provide a breath sample. A breath test later administered at the Sheriff’s Office showed her blood alcohol concentration was above the legal limit.
The driver, identified as 36-year-old Shakia Johnson of Fredericksburg, was charged with driving under the influence and driving after forfeiture of a license. She was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
