The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fraud involving an altered check reported on Toliver Lane.
The victim told deputies they mailed a check that was never received. The victim later discovered the check had been altered and cashed by an unknown suspect. The victim notified both their bank and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
No suspects have been identified, and the investigation is ongoing.
