Deputies are investigating an identity theft case after a Stafford County resident discovered their personal information had been used to make major purchases.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the victim reported suspicious account activity that included unauthorized withdrawals and money transfers. Their bank later determined the stolen funds had been used to purchase a vehicle in Texas and car insurance in Arizona.
Investigators also learned that paperwork associated with the vehicle purchase contained the victim’s personally identifiable information.
No suspects have been identified.
