The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office received a fraud report on Bessemer Court after a resident received Verizon invoices involving phone lines they had not authorized.
Deputy Osborne responded after the victim reported receiving the invoices and contacted the legitimate Verizon about the matter. Verizon advised the victim that the account number listed on the invoices could not be located.
The company instructed the victim to file a fraud report to begin an investigation, and a police report was needed as part of that process.
