A crash on Hartwood Road led to the arrest of a Fredericksburg man on DUI and other charges.
The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office said the driver went off the roadway, striking a large tree stump and a mailbox. When a deputy contacted the driver, he reportedly displayed an unsteady balance, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol.
Several open alcoholic beverages were reportedly visible in the driver’s seat, and the driver acknowledged drinking earlier in the day. Following field sobriety testing and breath testing, the driver was arrested. A breath sample obtained at the Sheriff’s Office showed a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit, according to the report.
