STAFFORD, VA — A 25-year-old Fredericksburg man was arrested after alcohol was allegedly stolen from a Royal Farms near Commerce Parkway.
The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office said a suspect stole alcohol and fled through the store’s fire exit. Deputies canvassed the area and located the suspect.
A search allegedly resulted in the stolen alcohol being recovered, with one beverage opened and nearly empty. Deputies also reported that the suspect displayed signs of impairment, including glassy eyes and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath.
Surveillance footage showed the suspect entering the store, selecting alcoholic beverages, concealing them in his clothing and passing all points of sale without paying, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect was identified as John Davis, 25, of Fredericksburg. Davis was charged with shoplifting and public intoxication and was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
