A 53-year-old Alexandria man was arrested after a deputy responded to a drunk driver complaint near Onville Road and Ebenezer Church Road.
After locating the vehicle and conducting a traffic stop, the deputy reported that the driver had slurred speech, glassy eyes and an odor of alcohol. The driver admitted consuming alcohol, and an empty alcohol bottle was visible inside the vehicle.
The driver participated in field sobriety tests and provided a breath sample at the scene but later refused to provide a breath or blood sample at the Sheriff’s Office.
Thomas Jones, 53, of Alexandria, was charged with driving under the influence and refusal to test. He was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a secured bond.
