The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fraud report involving unauthorized accounts.
A Kirby Lane resident reported discovering that their credit limit had been lowered after two unauthorized accounts were sent to collections. According to the report, a collections agency told the victim that someone had used the victim’s personally identifiable information to open the accounts.
A police report was required as part of the investigation.
