A traffic stop near International Parkway and Warrenton Road resulted in DUI and child abuse and neglect charges.
A Stafford County Sheriff’s deputy observed a vehicle being driven erratically and conducted a traffic stop. The driver allegedly admitted to consuming alcohol immediately before driving and showed signs of impairment, including glossy eyes, slurred speech and an odor of alcohol.
Authorities said a child was inside the vehicle, resulting in additional charges. The driver declined to provide a breath or blood sample at the Sheriff’s Office.
Javier Mejia, 54, of Fredericksburg, was charged with driving under the influence, abuse and neglect of children, a traffic lane violation and refusal to test. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
