STAFFORD, VA — A Washington, D.C., woman was arrested early Thursday morning following a reported assault at a Motel 6 on Warrenton Road.
Sergeant Jett responded to a disturbance at the motel at approximately 3:19 a.m. Investigators said the suspect threatened the victim before allegedly pushing and striking the victim and taking the victim’s phone.
Deputies observed marks on the victim, and witness statements corroborated the account of what occurred.
When deputies contacted the suspect, they reported signs of impairment, including glassy eyes, slurred speech and the odor of alcohol on her breath. The suspect was taken into custody but allegedly resisted while being detained.
The Sheriff’s Office said the suspect kicked Deputy Carey while she was being placed inside a patrol cruiser, resulting in additional charges.
The suspect was identified as Laura Taylor, 35, of Washington, D.C. Taylor was charged with grand larceny, assault and battery of a police officer, assault and battery, obstructing justice and public intoxication.
Taylor was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
