The victim reported receiving a notification from their financial institution alerting them to an attempted withdrawal they had not authorized.
The bank rejected the transaction and froze the account to prevent additional activity.
During the investigation, the resident told deputies that a check had recently been mailed as payment but had never reached its intended recipient.
The financial institution advised the resident to report the matter to law enforcement.
