A 40-year-old Caret resident was arrested on a driving under the influence charge following a reckless driving complaint on Cambridge Street.
Deputy Kotter responded after receiving information that a vehicle was traveling at inconsistent speeds and failing to remain within its lane.
The deputy subsequently observed the vehicle drifting from its lane and conducted a traffic stop.
During the encounter, the driver exhibited signs of possible impairment, including glassy eyes, slurred speech, and the odor of alcohol.
Deputies administered field sobriety tests and obtained a breath sample.
Additional testing at the Sheriff’s Office indicated that the driver’s blood alcohol concentration exceeded the legal limit.
The driver, identified as Shanai Clarke, 40, of Caret, was charged with driving under the influence.
Clarke was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a secured bond.
