A 25-year-old McLean man was arrested following a crash investigation at the intersection of Mount Olive Road and Poplar Road in Stafford County.
Deputy Hart responded to the intersection on October 10 after receiving a report of a vehicle accident.
During contact with the driver, the deputy observed signs of possible alcohol impairment, including glassy eyes and a strong odor of alcohol.
The driver reportedly acknowledged drinking alcohol earlier in the day. Deputies also found an open alcoholic beverage inside the vehicle.
Field sobriety tests were administered, and a breath sample was obtained.
According to the sheriff’s office, subsequent breath testing indicated that the driver’s blood alcohol concentration was above the legal limit.
The driver was identified as John Gentry, 25, of McLean.
Gentry was charged with driving under the influence, drinking while operating a motor vehicle and a traffic lane violation.
