TikTok Threat Triggers Investigation at Walker Grant Middle School

The Fredericksburg Police Department responded swiftly to a social media threat aimed at Walker Grant Middle School on September 12, 2024. A tip came in through the E-911 Communications Center around 3:10 p.m., alerting authorities to a concerning statement made on TikTok.

Officers tracked the IP address linked to the account, which led them to the home of two City Public School students. After contacting the parents, the police identified the juvenile responsible for the post. Detective Ralston and officers met with the family to confirm the details of the post, and the necessary information was immediately shared with the school administration.

While the nature of the threat remained uncertain, both the school and law enforcement took precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students and staff. The police have since referred the case for juvenile charges.

In a message to the community, Fredericksburg police assured parents and students that the situation has been resolved. They also encouraged parents to regularly monitor their children’s social media use and discuss safe online behavior.
