Emergency Surgery Saves Victim in Fredericksburg Stabbing Case

Early Sunday morning, Fredericksburg Police responded to a stabbing in the 1100 block of Townsend Boulevard. The call came in at around 8:20 a.m. from none other than the suspect himself, 20-year-old Jaydon Mathew Staples.

Staples dialed 911, admitting he had stabbed his mother’s boyfriend. When officers arrived, Staples was outside the apartment, flagging them down. Recognizing him as the suspect, police detained him without incident. Staples cooperated with law enforcement and handed over the weapon.

Inside the apartment, officers discovered the victim with serious stab wounds to the lower abdomen. Police administered first aid until EMS arrived, stabilizing the victim before he was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. As of now, the victim is recovering.

Staples has been arrested and charged in connection with the stabbing. He is currently being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
