A Stafford County resident reported unauthorized access to an airline account after discovering that someone had changed the account’s email address and converted airline miles into a gift card.
Deputy Ramos responded to Courthouse Road on October 8 to investigate the complaint.
According to the sheriff’s office, the victim initially became aware of the problem after being unable to access the airline account. Further investigation revealed that the email address associated with the account had been changed.
The victim also discovered that airline miles had been transferred into a gift card without authorization.
The victim contacted the airline, which requested a police report as part of its reimbursement process.
