The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fraud involving an altered check mailed by a resident on Orange Blossom Court.
Deputy Buzzard responded after the victim reported mailing a check as payment that was never received by its intended recipient. After contacting their bank, the victim discovered that the check had allegedly been altered and cashed by a suspect.
A police report was needed as part of the investigation.
