The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office investigated a fraud report involving an altered check on White Oak Road.
Deputy Pitts responded after the victim reported mailing a check as payment that was never received by its intended recipient. After examining their account, the victim discovered that the check had been altered.
The victim notified their bank, and a police report was required as part of the investigation.
