A Stafford County deputy responded to Payton Drive after a resident reported an unauthorized withdrawal from a bank account.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, the victim reviewed the withdrawal and discovered that a previously written check had been altered for a mobile deposit. The victim contacted the bank, which closed the account.
A police report was filed as part of the investigation.
