The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fraud report involving a check that was reportedly altered and cashed without the account holder’s authorization.
Deputy Pitts responded to Garrisonville Road on October 8 after a resident reported mailing a check intended as payment. According to the report, the intended recipient never received the check.
The victim later discovered that the check had been altered and cashed.
Authorities have not identified any suspects in connection with the incident.
