The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fraud report involving an altered check on North Pointe Drive.
Deputy Sprinkles responded after the victim reported receiving a phone call from their bank concerning an altered check that had already been cashed. The victim confirmed they had not cashed the check but had previously mailed a check for payment.
Authorities said no suspects had been identified at the time of the report.
