A routine response to a suspicious vehicle led to the arrest of a Sterling man wanted by authorities in Washington, D.C.
Deputy Cassetta responded to Green Acre Drive during the early morning hours of June 10 after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, the deputy found a man asleep inside a running vehicle with the driver’s door open.
During the investigation, authorities discovered that the vehicle’s license plate was registered to a different vehicle. Further checks revealed the driver was wanted on an outstanding warrant from Washington, D.C.
The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Ali Kheri of Sterling, was arrested and charged with fugitive from justice, driving an unregistered vehicle, and driving with a license plate belonging to another vehicle. Kheri was transported to Rappahannock Regional Jail, where he was held without bond.
