The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an identity theft case after a victim learned someone attempted to take out student loans using their information.
Deputies said the victim was alerted by their university after a suspect attempted to request student loans under the victim’s identity. Fortunately, the university intercepted the request before any money was disbursed.
A police report was filed to assist with the ongoing investigation.
