A Stafford resident reported falling victim to a bank impersonation scam that resulted in a loss of funds.
The victim received a phone call from individuals claiming to be from Atlantic Union Bank’s fraud department. The suspects warned of suspicious activity and instructed the victim to transfer money into another account for protection.
After completing the transfer, the victim contacted their bank but was unable to recover the funds. Authorities have advised the victim to follow up with the receiving bank to track the money.
