Bitcoin Scam Impersonating Sheriff’s Office Reported on Heritage Commons Drive

Deputies responded to a reported scam in which suspects impersonated members of the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. The victim received a call appearing to come from the agency’s non-emergency number, with the caller claiming to be a captain.

The scammers alleged the victim had missed jury duty and instructed them to withdraw money and deposit it into Bitcoin using a QR code. After completing the transaction, the victim realized it was a scam.

No suspects have been identified, and the incident remains under investigation.
