A bomb threat at a United Bank branch in Fredericksburg triggered a swift police response late Friday afternoon, ending with one man in custody and no actual explosives found.

Around 3:45 p.m. on October 3, Fredericksburg’s E-911 Center received a call reporting a threat at the bank, located in the 500 block of Emancipation Highway. According to police, a man walked into the bank, handed a teller a note claiming he had a gun and a bomb, then left shortly after.

The suspect didn’t get far. Officers arriving on the scene found a man matching the description—Black male, green hoodie—sitting just outside the nearby Fas Mart. He was taken into custody without incident.

Police later identified the suspect as Reginald Robinson Jr., 34, of King George. He is currently being held without bond at Rappahannock Regional Jail and faces bomb threat charges.

Fredericksburg Police, with support from the Virginia State Police and their bomb-sniffing dog team, conducted a thorough sweep of the area, including any vehicles possibly connected to Robinson. No weapons or explosives were found.

The investigation is still ongoing. Authorities have not released details about Robinson’s motive or whether he had a prior criminal history.

The Fredericksburg Police Department thanked the Virginia State Police for their help in the incident, specifically citing the use of their bomb detection team.
