A Bowling Green man is facing multiple charges after Stafford County deputies investigated a report of a driver asleep behind the wheel at a McDonald’s.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the restaurant on Chatham Heights Road after receiving a report of an individual asleep at the steering wheel. When deputies made contact with the driver, he displayed signs of impairment, including a drowsy demeanor and an unsteady balance.
Deputies also observed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The driver refused to perform field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.
During the investigation, deputies located weapons, narcotics, and other items inside the vehicle. Authorities also determined the suspect was on probation, resulting in additional charges.
The suspect was identified as 46-year-old Daryl Claiborne of Bowling Green. He was charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, driving under the influence, and possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance. Claiborne was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a secured bond.
