Deputies in Stafford County are investigating a fraud case involving a scammer posing as a representative from Chase Bank’s Fraud Department.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, the victims were contacted by someone claiming they would be receiving a replacement bank card. Shortly afterward, the victims discovered several unauthorized charges on their account.
The victims contacted their actual bank, which confirmed the interaction was part of a scam and advised that the fraudulent charges would be refunded. Deputies also recommended the victims contact the Social Security Administration due to concerns that personal information may have been compromised.
