Deputy I. E. Baldi responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Stafford Lakes Parkway and Warrenton Road.
Upon contact with one of the drivers, Deputy Baldi observed signs of intoxication, including glassy, bloodshot eyes and the odor of alcoholic beverages. After field sobriety tests were conducted, the driver was taken into custody.
The driver was identified as Richard Laryea, 54, of Stafford. Laryea was charged with driving under the influence with an elevated blood alcohol content, failure to maintain control, following too closely, and failure to obey a traffic signal. He was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a secured bond.
