A 29-year-old Stafford man was arrested for driving under the influence following a traffic stop near Wyche Road.
Deputy Croson observed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane and running a red light before initiating the stop.
When the deputy approached the driver, he reportedly noticed glassy eyes and an odor of alcohol on the man’s breath.
The driver admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the day but refused to participate in field sobriety tests or provide a breath sample during the roadside investigation.
The man was subsequently arrested. According to the Sheriff’s Office, a breath sample obtained later at the Sheriff’s Office showed that his blood alcohol content exceeded the legal limit.
He was charged with driving under the influence and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a secured bond.
