Deputy Kotvas responded to a vehicle crash after reports that a car struck a pole and ended up in a ditch near James Ashby Parkway and Kings Highway. Officers observed signs of impairment from the driver, including glassy eyes and an unsteady balance.
The driver admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the day, and deputies later located an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle. Breath test results reportedly showed the driver’s blood alcohol content exceeded the legal limit.
Empress Davenport, 38, of Morrow, was charged with driving under the influence and drinking while operating a motor vehicle.
