Driver Found Asleep at Traffic Light Arrested on Wyche Road

A 30-year-old Fredericksburg man was arrested on DUI and drug charges after a Stafford County deputy reportedly found him asleep behind the wheel at a traffic light.

First Sergeant Assur conducted a traffic stop to check on the driver and woke him. Field sobriety tests were administered and a breath sample was obtained.

During a search, Deputy Copeland located a small bag containing suspected narcotics, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The driver allegedly acknowledged that the substance was narcotics.

At the Sheriff’s Office, another breath sample showed the driver’s blood alcohol content was above the legal limit. The driver later admitted to consuming alcohol shortly before driving, according to the report.

Herbert Sorto, 30, of Fredericksburg, was charged with driving under the influence and possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance. He was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on an unsecured bond.
