DUI: Area of Garrisonville Road and Onville Road Stafford VA

Deputy R.H. Ryan responded to a driver under the influence report. The caller advised a work van was traveling well beneath the speed limit, entered into oncoming traffic, and had the strong odor of a controlled substance emitting from the vehicle. Deputy Ryan would observe the van swerving and conducted a traffic stop. As soon as the driver rolled down his window, Deputy Ryan was struck with the heavy odor of a freshly burnt controlled substance. The driver had signs of intoxication and admitted to smoking a leafy controlled substance. The driver was charged with driving under the influence and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $5,000 secured bond.
