Deputy R. Tully was traveling Northbound on Richmond Highway when he observed a vehicle in front of him missing rear lights. If that wasn’t enough for a traffic stop, the suspect vehicle drifted into another lane and nearly caused an auto accident. Deputy Tully conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver. The driver advised he was merely “falling asleep,” however, his clear signs of intoxication were more likely the culprit for his less than ideal driving. After conducting field sobriety tests, the driver would have a chance to sleep off his intoxication at Rappahannock Regional Jail. He was charged with driving under the influence, the traffic lane violation, and having defective equipment. He was held on a $2,000 secured bond.
