Deputy Ryan located a disabled vehicle late Wednesday night on the shoulder of Richmond Highway near Garrisonville Road. The vehicle was running and an individual was seated in the driver’s seat.
The driver claimed they had simply pulled over to use their phone, but Deputy Ryan noted the location created a potential traffic hazard. During the investigation, the deputy learned the driver was wanted in Maryland for a probation violation.
While escorting the driver to the patrol vehicle, the deputy observed signs of impairment including slurred speech, the odor of alcohol, and an unsteady balance. The driver was transported to the Sheriff’s Office where a breath test confirmed their blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit.
The driver was identified as Tristen Flickinger, 24, of Westminster. Flickinger was charged with driving under the influence and served with an extradition warrant for the probation violation. Flickinger was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
