Deputy S.T. Myers was traveling in the area when he observed a vehicle traveling only 15 MPH. Despite the extremely slow speed on Richmond Highway, the driver was still having a hard time maintaining the lane of travel. At the intersection the driver would stop and fall asleep at the green light, making it easy for Deputy Myers to conduct a traffic stop. Deputy R. Tully responded to assist and both observed a bottle of Maker’s Mark in plain view. The driver had signs of intoxication and after field sobriety tests were administered, he was detained. The driver was charged with driving under the influence, drinking while driving, refusal, and the traffic lane violation. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
